(post 26) Working from a script 7- storyboarding

Here is the storyboard, it shows how the annotation on the script was translated to a visual. The framing wasn't always perfect within these sketches so every now and then there are notes on how the final take should be shot on some of the squares



















We followed the storyboard quite well, and referred to it not only for the shots but also as a sort of secondary script whilst filming. We strayed from some shots because we became aware of how different shots would work better around the set choices. We also cut out some of the last shots, as we though that ending it on Peter telling the others to hurry as he leads them to Edmund was a more dramatic and tense ending than what was originally planned, even if this did cut out a tense argument between Peter and Susan later on.

Here are some comparisons between the storyboard and the final shots.




The first shot where the four Pevensies are standing in the cold was kept the same, except for the order of them in the line, which made little difference


The shot of Susan when she saying "He's a beaver! He shouldn't be doing anything!" was very similar, it wasn't as face-on as the shot in the storyboard was, but at a slight angle.









This is the shot when Mr Beaver was asking the Pevensies if everything was alright, after they've had a small argument. The concept of this shot was the same, but he appeared from the other side of the screen and it was more zoomed in, rather than a medium or wide shot
 

This part of the scene where the second Mr. Beaver calls out to see if it's his husband ended up being shot quite differently. The plan was going to be the this Beaver talking off screen whilst Susan and Peter look at each other, and then would move onto a shot of him opening the door. Instead of this we started inside of the house for the first part of the line, and then kept to the shot afterwards outside of the house.

We had sketched out two shots for the part of the scene where the second Mr. Beaver first sees the Pevensies, we waere going to have a them seen over his shoulder, and then over theirs. We ended up doing this and it worked quite well.


 
Another thing we changed was the plates and cutlery being set out on the table, which turned to the second Mr Beaver picking up the books from the table.

( Post 13 ) sound in 13 reasons why

                                                                                                              13 reasons why       we were given this video clip, our task was to reproduce the sound in this scene. In this scene there was narrative speech, background music and footsteps which we had to recreate. In this scene there was diegetic sound, diegetic sound is sound that is visible on the screen such as clays footsteps when he is walking down the corridor or when an actor is talking during the scene. There was also non-diegetic sound present during this scene, non diegetic sound is that is edited in after the scene is filmed such as the narrative voice of Hannah talking and background music, all theses things do not happed when the scene is being filmed instead later edited into the scene to create mood or add on to the setting. (post 18) Audince feedback on your kuleshov effect videos

The koleshov effect theory is where you use the same image but change what the person s looking at this is suppose to trick the reader into thinking they are showing different emotion. When showing strangers in Wymondham Town Centre this video we got mixed emotions towards it, some did not get the theory and worked out it was the same image therefor making it seem that the theory is not true on everyone, other members of the public saw the same emption for very clip, such as like anger, and lastly no one guessed the true emotions they are suppose to being portrayed instead they only figured out 2 of the 3. all in all this shows that this theory is not as strong as first believed perhaps suggesting either the image of the person was not neutral enough or the theory only works with certain people. I was not expecting this feedback from the audience, I felt that they would of understood the concept to the extent of seeing the different emotions, this did not happen which surprised me
